During my time at Finvisor, Andrew initiated a new revenue stream by spearheading the development of our Employee Retention Credit (ERC) department. He showed tremendous initiative to learn the ins and outs of this new tax credit. Andrew's true strength is training people. He incorporates their own learning style into instruction, moves at their pace, and checks understanding to ensure people are equipped for success. Andrew is also extremely talented at making his direct reports feel like people and not just employees. The work always got done, but we were equally encouraged to share about our lives and bond as a team. Overall, he successfully delegated tasks, maintained relationships with approximately 175 clients, and brought in a huge amount of money for the company.
I worked with Andrew for about five years at Finvisor. Andrew provided a very wide scope of support to our internal team and to our clients. Andrew has the ability to wear multiple hats and juggle long client lists and projects. His largest coverage was in financial modeling & analysis and later in securing government tax credits for businesses. Andrew consistently showed he is a problem solver between researching company wide questions and supporting the team in every day IT issues & related automations. Andrew is consistently punctual, professional in appearance both in person and remote, and has a warm & friendly personality that is appreciated by colleagues and clients.
In working in financial modeling, Andrew demonstrated sharp financial ability. He directly apply advanced excel knowledge in reaching outputs efficiently, read and understood US GAAP financial statements, and communicated clearly through verbal & written communication. Andrew helped clients with current and future decision making through BvA and forecasting support.
When opportunity arose for a new department in tax credits, Andrew took on the R&D Tax Credit department lead role and generated a whole new revenue stream and client service for Finvisor. Andrew worked directly with founders and financial higher ups, as well as our internal accounting team, in review of the R&D four part test, data intake & inputs, review, and both tax & payroll coordination for completed R&D studies. Andrew's knowledge of financial accounting systems and excel skills helped Andrew in driving these credits to the finish line. His ability to navigate tax return forms and payroll platforms was also frequently reflected.
When another opportunity arose for our company, the Employee Retention tax credit, Andrew offloaded R&D tax credit work to a great new hire and took on this more advanced computation and process (compared to the R&D tax credit). Andrew once again helped our company generate another new line of revenue with this project. Much more of his skill set was shown in this line of work, especially ability to research business & tax complexities, work through challenging excel model errors, and communicating on claims with the not-so-easy-to-work-with federal & state US governments. Andrew interviewed, hired, and managed a team within our company for the ERC work while also continuing to juggle a lead role on complex client credits.
Andrew assisted Finvisor with invoicing for completed credits based on contractual triggers, and relatedly helped our payables department on remittance calculations for revenue share to various related partners.
Andrew is an obvious fit for roles in financial forecasting and government tax credits, but due to his proven history for adapting in a flash to new lines of work, he is also a great person to consider for other general coverage. Some roles Andrew would thrive in include operations, sales, tax, product, marketing, HR, and recruiting.
Andrew is a phenomenal leader & team player.
When he joined Finvisor in 2019, he hit the ground running as a financial analyst. At the time, our team was a lot smaller -- couldn't be more than 15 people -- so we worked more closely together across different clients. I worked on the books while he focused on creating forecasts, budgets, cash flow projections, & other ad hoc work that helped many of our clients secure funding & helped business owners strategize for the future.
His work was impeccable & he clearly knew what he was talking about. I've joined meetings with him & our clients where he would talk through the financial model & be able to provide our clients with better clarity on what their finances would look like given certain inputs & scenarios. Any questions the clients had, he was able to answer with ease & professionalism, which provided the clients with greater confidence that he truly put in the time & effort to understand their businesses & what they needed.
He also has great technical knowledge about different systems. I know there were many instances when he would walk me through random Excel or Google Sheet questions. When I knew I was beginning to spin my wheels figuring out how to improve processes to help build efficiency in my workflow, he was there to provide suggestions. He always came through with a positive attitude & I learned something new in virtually every encounter I had with Andrew.
When the COVID pandemic hit, many of our clients struggled with their finances & with the government-funded tax credits, Andrew was able to provide even greater guidance. This was a completely new stream of service Finvisor didn't previously have & he helped build the tax credit team from the ground up. Doing this in a completely remote environment had its challenges, but he was able to ensure he & his team were producing great work. Andrew closely monitored the latest & greatest news about these credits so that he could properly keep our internal team & clients informed. He worked with nearly 200 clients to help them claim R&D & Employee Retention Credits, providing them with more funds to keep their businesses alive.
